He milks sad and disturbing things. It's the "shock factor" that he relies on to stimulate a positive response to his films. And that's what pisses me off about him. He found a formula that works. Teenagers like to feel guilty after they saw a disturbing film. I was a huge fan of kids when i was about 13, i had cable in my room. But i rented it on dvd months ago and saw how cheesy it was. But dammit you can't help but fall to it's charm. I didn't say he's a bad director, that's one thing he has going for him. The style is way too repetative.

"Sunday" has to be one of the most godawful videos I've ever seen. I've been a SY fan since '87 but this is ridiculous. Or rather, Harmony's video is. Didn't you just love the c.u. of the licking lips? I wasn't too impressed with the fifteen minutes of "Gummo" I saw but I did think "Kids" was pretty good in that exploitation-film kinda way.
